OUR BEEKEEPING MUSEUM
Located in Mfulony village, a mere 23 kilometers from the bustling heart of Arusha City Center and a convenient 7 kilometers from the charming Tengeru small town, you'll find the Beewonders Beekeeping Museum. Our journey towards establishing this unique museum began back in 2017, shortly after we embarked on our beekeeping endeavors. The inspiration for this museum sprouted from witnessing the transformative shift in beekeeping practices, transitioning from local traditions to a more commercialized approach. Recognizing the importance of preserving these local beekeeping skills and practices, we envisioned a museum dedicated solely to the rich world of beekeeping and its interconnectedness with other traditional practices.
Within the Beewonders Beekeeping Museum, our collections paint a vivid picture of the profound cultural and economic contributions made by bees, particularly in the context of village development and livelihood improvements. The museum's exhibitions and collections encompass:
- A historical exploration of Beekeeping as practiced by the Meru, Chagga, and Maasai tribes, both before the modern era and its traditional uses of bee products.
- An exploration of other crucial pollinators native to the area.
- A fascinating showcase of traditional beekeeping equipment and their multifaceted uses.
- A captivating display of the intricate arts and practices of beekeepers, brought to life through stunning drawings and illustrations
